FAQ'S
Often I have new swimmers ask some of the questions below. Thoughts that maybe even kept them from starting out their journey to swim. Learning anything new, sometimes we want information to prepare us mentally, and or physically..
What should I wear? What can I wear?
Wear anything that makes you comfortable in the water. It doesn’t have to be a swimsuit. It does not have to be any particular brand.
What should I bring to my first swim session?
Bring your suit, towel, and something like water to hydrate with. For longer hair, pull it into a ponytail or braid to prevent it from tangling. I also offer swimcaps to pull hair away from the face.
What about each pool? Are both private? Can I shower?
Wood Village- private, no shower, bathroom available
Milwaukie- not private, shower on deck, bathroom available
What are we doing in our first swim session together?
Getting comfortable and going slow is always the first step in learning something new. Different strokes, for different folks. Listening to our bodies, learning to trust and learning to let go, slowly and softly of past ideas and beliefs you may hold about swimming and being in the water.
Where can I keep all of my stuff?
There aren’t lockers available, but there are plenty of chairs, benches and tables on the pool decks.
What is your swim experience/certifications?
I started my swim journey at 6 months old, and have swam on swim teams, took elective lap swimming in college (it helped with my mental health) and am a certified lifeguard, swim instructor and coach.
